I currently need to re-build my DHCP server and am using Windows 2003. I would like redundancy and/or load balancing but I cannot achive this with Microsoft clustering because Enterprise edition is required. Too expensive to be used just for DHCP. I am considering using the 80/20 rule and running two servers, but I am curious as to what others are doing. Does anyone know of third-party software that can cluster windows 2003, provides standby functionality or complete failover? Any information is most appreciated.

Actively use the 50/50 rule (a slight amenedment on the 80/20 rule!) and use an exclusion range rather than splitting the scope up.
