Hi,

I'm having the following error.
The workstations are on dhcp but some don't get a gateway.
They get a ip address and a subnetmask but they don't get a gateway.

tnx

I have a simmilar problem.

I have computer (1) (Host) running XP Pro with a 10 base NIC internet cable connection and a 100 base NIC for Local network connected through a hub.
Computer (2) (Client) running 98SE with 100 base NIC for local network connected to hub.
I also connect my lap top (98SE) with 10 Base NIC to hub.

I can get everything to function correctly on all machines, however when I shut down and re start computer (2) it does not find the gateway and therefore no connection. It can ping itself OK but can not get response from anything else. If I run the Network Wizard it will connect OK for that session only.

Does anyone know what causes this and hopefully tell me how to fix it.

Regards John D

I am having the same problem but with Windows NT 4.0 SP6a. I am getting all of the correct IP, DNS, WINS, but no Default Gateway assigned. All of my Win2k systems are fine, but when it comes to this one NT system, well no go. Any help is welcome.

I am having this same problem on 4 machines, all running NT 4.0, the Win2K machines get the right info. anyone have any insight on how to correct this?

Did anyone find a resolution for this issue? 4 machines, all running NT 4.0, the Win2K machines get the right info in DHCP. The NT 4.0 machines get no default gateway

Have you tried setting the gateway 'static' in the network properties?

Barring that, check your DHCP server to ensure it is forcing down the gateway.

In reply to Supertanker's answer on 15 Aug 02:-

How do you set the gateway "static , please ?

You should be able to change to static on your router connection type page.
