DHCP manager shows Reservation, printer not working

I have added a scope in DHCP manager for a new printer. In the listing of printers my new printer shows Reservation, not Reservation in Use like the other printers listed. I have created a print que and loaded the correct print drivers and powercycled the new printer. The printer only prints a job once turned on and off. Server NT4.0, workstations 98.
How do I resolve this printing problem?

Have you done a test page print on the printer to see if it is picking up the right ip?

Yes, I can print test pages from all clients as well as server. However, after the first couple of print jobs the clients don't print unless the printer is powercycled. The printer dialog window indicates the size of the job is 0bytes then after a few minutes print job status show "error printing"

are you sure that the IP you reserved has not been issued to another machine in the network yet? try checking the leased addresses sorting them by IP address and re-assign/re-reserve a new one for the same printer.

There are no other printers using this ip.

leasing an IP from a DHCP server is not restricted to printers alone. what i am saying is another computer which is turned on sometime late in the day might have already leased the IP you are reserving for the printer mentioned. this will result in a clash with the reserved IP address. the best solution, imo, is still to reassign another IP for the reservation.
