Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help (I have searched the forum, just nothing seems particularly relevant).
I have DHCP manager running, and sometimes random clients will give me an error (***.***.***.*** System has detected a conflict for IP address. The interface has been disabled). This error does not seem to interfere overmuch with the network, although I am having some problems with running login scripts from time to time (?).
I've checked the DHCP manager, I only have one scope on my network and a few reserved addresses which have not shown any problems.
I DO seem to have an issue with my BDC (again NT 4.0) requesting additional IP addresses for RAS, although these addresses do not respond to PING requests (and I have no dial in ports available on this server (?). The BDC was previously the PDC, I demoted it a while ago, and closed down the DHCP service, so I can't see retained leases being the problem.
I generally get one of these messages from one client every day, but it isn't the same IP address every time. I have a class B subnet, and nowhere near enough clients to fill them all up.
Anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Richard
