Hello,

Currently on the network we are experience the following case. When a user that is a DHCP client tries to login to a site such as hotmail.com, they enter their username and password. When that is submitted the data then is redirected to an https site. When this happens the site then comes up with a 403 unauthorized error. The strange part is this only happens for DHCP clients. Static clients can do this w/o a problem. If anyone has and idea I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Once had this problem when using a Lansuite602 as a proxy server. Not sure whether dhcp was ever a contributing factor though.

I got around it, and a number of other related issues by giving up the proxy in favour of NAT performed at the internet router.

The only thing I can think of that could be different when using a static ip is if perhaps you are entering a different subnet mask to that which dhcp issues? and if so perhaps this is somehow more favourable to your proxy or hotmail.

Do you have a proxy? If so, I expect it has a manually entered static ip/subnet mask - is the mask the same as the mask being provided to machines by dhcp? if not it is probably the same as that which you are entering manually on the clients which are able to access hotmail??

Hope this is of some help - sorry it's grasping at straws but perhaps worth a visit!
