I have PacBell DSL wich allows 5 ip's, and had 4 PC and 1 IBM RS6000/AIX working smoothly on internet and network. Recently i added a DSL router to add more machines to network, after router I lost internet connection to the AIX box,it's still visible on network. Someone suggested i turn-on DHCP on AIX, so i used SMIT to enable DHCP. Now machine is locked, can't shutdown and if i power down, it still wont boot. Is there anyway to do like a soft-boot as in windows?. And how could i remove DHCP once booted?

I can't understand why your RS/6000 is not booting... may be is a "little" slow to boot to CDE.

Try pressing F5 key to boot from AIX CD and then edit the [tt]/etc/rc.tcpip[/tt] file, inside you can check out dhcp related daemons and reboot.

Don't forget to sync before you reboot.
I hope it works...
Unix was made by and for smart people.
