Background: Windows 2003 AD domain/dns domain, Windows XP SP2 clients
The ISP in the building supplies DHCP to our domain (this DHCP server is on a different Windows 2003 AD domain).
Everything has been working fine for years and now at every reboot when the DHCP client checks-in my XP clients report:
DHCP:Event 1002
The IP address lease ***.***.***.*** for the Network Card with network address ************ has been denied by the DHCP server 0.0.0.0 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
On occasion:
DHCP: Event 1003
Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address
************. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Eventually the same DHCP address is released again to the same client, however sometimes there is an annoying interruption of network connectivity for users.
I need help debugging the cause of this?
