We have users who use wireless for moving around the office, and for greater speed hookup to the hardwire at their desks. This is resulting in there being 2 addresses leased to the same host name etc. I am researching using DHCP classes to differentiate these users with perhaps a very short lease duration. Anybody have any insights? Thanks

How do they transition from wireless to hardwire? A release of the ip from client should deactivate the name in DNS/WINS.

I know what I know and that's all I know.

Our problem is that the users in question tend to just plug the hard wire in while the wireless is still connected. We are trying to come up with a back end solution that would be seamless to the user. One solution of course is to train the user to disable/enable their wireless depending on location and network connection. I am wondering if anyone has a better idea.[3eyes]

Unless they gracefully release the IP and allow the server to perform required functions, they will always have this problem.

If they are using both NICs when at the workstation, what are some of the problems they are encountering?

The problem we are having is when both cards have odtained dhcp addresses and updated their records in DNS. Things get a little confusing. I am coming around to the idea of training them in the art of ipconfig /release and /renew with all of the attendednt glitches that will arise when people forget to do it. Thanks [bigcheeks]
