DHCP and Ping problem

I have VMWare server 1.0.7 running on a Server 2003 Host.

The virutal machines are using "Custom: Specific Virtual Network" VMnet8 (NAT). They are picking up a DHCP address in the correct subnet (200.1.3.0). Our main network (200.1.1.0) can ping the virtual machine gateway, but cannot ping any of the virtual machines. The virtual machines, can ping the main network computers.

The firewall is disabled on the virtual machines, and the network firewall is wide open.

Why can't I get a main network machine to ping the virtual machines?

the vmware server may have a firewall of its own...you dont mention if you can actually remote into or manage the vm's from the internal network, but you may need to open up some of the ports within the VM server
