dfs unified namespace alias

is this possible?

I have created a dfs unified namespace entry for a file share on one server. I am mapping that fileshare with no issue. I have been asked to see if I can alias the domain portion of the mapping with something shorter.

example

drive P is mapped as \\corp.domainname.com\P_Drive

is it possible to create an alias for the "corp.domainname.com" portion?

so that drive P is mapped to \\drives\P_Drive

I have tried creating a cname record in dns that references to corp.domainname.com but that did not work. is this even possible?
