Hello,
I wondered if anyone here could possibly give me a bit of feedback on this DFS plan I have.
At the moment, I have a file server that has loads of file shares on it and everybody maps a drive to them. This is all on machine A.
I have a new machine (Machine B) which I plan on setting DFS up on. Now, my plan is to set up the DFS tree so it mimics the shared drives on everybodys computers, and link it all to the folders on Machine A, that way, what I think I can do is then move all the folders over to the new machine, redo the log on script to delete the existing mapped drives on everyones PC's and remap them to the DFS links, and nobody will be any the wiser.
Does this sound like my best possible course of action, or is there a better way of doing this? Machine A is Win 2000 and Machine B is Win 2003 R2.
Thank you in advance for any replys.
Kind Regards,
Paul Williams.
