I have a problem with DFS in Windows 2000.
My DFS servers (there are 2) are both SP3 (as are workstations) and I have a single domain DFS root.
The problem: Sometimes a client will map the DFS root to a drive and whilst the root folders of the DFS links will appear, their subfolders are not appearing. They can't even be reached via the command prompt.
Un-mapping and re-mapping the drive won't work and even logging off and back on again won't cure it!
Sometimes the same client will connect without any problem.
I don't think DNS or WINS resolution is a problem.
I do not believe this relates to Microsoft article 290075 ("Distributed File System Links May Not Be Visible When You Connect to the Distributed File System Root Share" and anyway, the registry key "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" is not enabled on any machines.
Any advice /shared experience on this behaviour greatly appreciated.
