Hi,
Anyone seen the problem with DFS when a created root is not visable on some servers.
The servers are Windows 2003 Sp 2 with all critical pathes installed, They are in different locations.

When connecting to the DFS for example under \\DFSRoot\Folder
You should be able to see another 4 links I.e.

\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link1
\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link2
\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link3
\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link4

On affected machines(File server or Dc) I can only see

\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link1
\\DFSRoot\Folder\Link2

Link 3 & 4 is missing, the access is configured correctly
If i run "DFSUtil /view" on one of the affected servers I can see everything only when browsing there are folders missing.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Stu

Not sure if this is your problem since you can see a few of the links, but...

The local file system place holders may be missing because the 8.3 file name support has been disabled on the problem servers.
To fix this, you need to update a registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

Look for the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation value, change the DWORD to type 0 then reboot the server.
