Hi,
Due to my web hosts not allowing me to install an FMS onto their servers, i'm having to migrate to a new host. Until this happens I will be using an FVSS (playstream).
Due my not really having much of a clue about streaming video from an FMS, i've been over to devnet and got a great tutorial by Lisa Larson on developing a dynamic video player that generates thumbnails on-the-fly, using a list component populated by XML. It's a great and seemingly straight forward tutorial but i'm having trouble and so was hoping someone more knowledgable than myself could help me out.
Basically, the system is made up of two external AS docs one which appears to establish a connection to the FMS and populates the list component from the XML doc which, contains descriptions and urls to the videos.
The second contains the code to generate the thumbnails and populate the list component with them.
There is also a third file, main.asc which, i think must be some sort of server-side code as I was told to drop it into the Applications folder on my FMS.
I think this is possibly where things are going wrong.. as I didn't have an applications folder, or an FMS for that matter. So i made the same directory structure it mentions in the tutorial on my FVSS account and stored the files in the same locations. Unfortunately, though i'm still getting no video through the other end.
It says in my output window that a connection was successful but this erratic and it won't open my primary video which is simply an rtmp address attached to stream_ns.play("").. and it works when i attach that to a regular FLVplayback component through the component inspector.

Does anyone have any idea where I might be going wrong? or knows of any good sites on the basics of using an FMS or FVSS for that matter..
Apologies if these questions are stupid, i'm fairly new to all of this but have really begun to get to grips with progressive video so am hoping to do the same with streaming from an FMS.

If anyone has any advice whatsoever, i'd be very grateful.
I understand that this isn't a particularly well covered area but am thinking someone must know where to start! lol

For your reference I've uploaded both AS files, the ASC file the FLA and the XML to my server. the sample FLVs are already on the FVSS account in the paths described in the XML. I've zipped all these up for your convenience.
