Hello,

I have a HP-UX box which seems to be polling/pinging all the networks. This server has HP Openview installed on it.

I have since shut the application down and snmpd but the firewall logs are still showing the server is pinging all networks.

I have shutdown server and the messages stop but I need the server for other work. Not sure what is causing the icmp-type 8 and icmp-code 0 errors on firwall.

Any help appreciated.

OpenView runs quite a few background processes - Which do the actual discovering of nodes, etc.

# /opt/OV/bin/ovstop -v

This stops all the background processes. [Also if you don't want it to start on boot....change /etc/rc.config.d Openview file from 1 to 0.]

I killed all the openview processes manually as well. I found snmpcollect was corrupted not sure if it was that causing the spurious pings.
