Trying to change NIC settings on a computer running Windows98. Problem is that the administrator has setup the OS without the Device Manager tab in the System Properties. Was wondering if anyone knew of a command that could be typed like you can for MSCONFIG instead of the Start-Programs-Acccessories-etc.
Thanks
John

Which NIC settings are you trying to change?

Need to change it from 10/100 to 10 half duplex

jas45:

You don't change that in device manager. Go to control panel and open 'Network' click on your adapter and choose properties then go to the advanced tab and change it there.

You can also find that setup programs such as 3C90XCFG.EXE for the 3Com 3C90x series will do this; then just set the driver in 98 to Auto and it will use the best available.

Appreciate your help, last time I changed those settings was a few months ago on a 2000 system. Memory is not as good as it use to be.
