Two years ago our company purchased our complete Cisco phone system (phones, ata, Gateways, POE switches,) we have ran on a hosted CCM and Unity box for the duration. We are now in the process of purchasing our own CCM and Unity box and started receiving the quotes for this.

On our inital phone purchase we purchased the phones along with the device licenses. Now that we are receiving quotes the vendors are including device licenses.

My question is... can the device licenses that we already purchased be migrated over to the new CCM and Unity to spare the pocket book $25,000.00 in device licenses fees. If so is there any problem or downside in doing this?

That is a good question. You need to ask that to the CISCO var's that are giving you the quotes. As long as you have proof of purchase and a valid contract with cisco you should be able to reuse your licenses.
You are in a unique situation since you are in a hosted solution now. I have not run into this before.

The people who issued me the quotes never thought of that until i brought it up. First glance i am thinking yes we can reuse them since we purchased them with our funds. Was just wondering if anyone eles had ran into this.

We've transferred DLUs before, but that was were both CCMs were owned by us. They went into the CLI with a root account and deleted the license files on one server and installed new lower DLU count files in it's place. They then send another set of license files to the other server to increase it's total DLU count. We did this because we accidentally installed too many licenses on one cluster versus another. Slightly different situation since you are running on a hosted solution, but technically possible.

Just as an FYI Cisco has stated we are able to transfer the DLUs to our new call manager since we did purchase them originally, and still hold the contract on them. If the hosted service would have purchsaed them (which Cisco stated they should have) then we could not have done so.
