I have the following kit: Networker server 511 build 115 running on SunOs5.6 with twin SCSI attached IBM 3590 tape drives in a 3434 STL.

I had the following error:

Nov 17 10:13:13 avuksu03 root: NetWorker media: (warning) /dev/rmt/1stcbn opening: I/O error
Nov 17 10:17:14 avuksu03 root: NetWorker media: (alert) Jukebox `IBM3494' failed barcode list corrupted

After trying many things, I could still not get any tapes to load into device 1. (Including an nsrjb –H)

I shutdown networker, took a backup copy of nsrjb.res and edited the live copy as follows:

From:
loaded bar codes: "", -;
loaded slots: "", -99999;
loaded volumes: "", -;

to:
loaded bar codes: "", "";
loaded slots: "", "";
loaded volumes: "", "";

I restarted networker, and what do you know everything works ok. Despite the manual saying these attributes should not be changed manually.

Anyone got any comments on this? As I am still waiting for legato to get back to me.
Cheers
Mike

I ran into a similar problem after upgrading from 5.1 to 5.5.2 where the vol id list became corrupt. I ended up jb_config'ing the library to sort it out. I never received any feedback from Legato on this either.

I had exactly the same trouble on a Silo library
have done the same manual operation and it works

apparently this corruption was done by a screwd tape
check it out
