Hello,

I'm a new Ciscoworks user, I hope someone can help me.

I'm having trouble in Campus Manager.

I can successfully discover Cisco devices on the subnets we use. Campus Manager data collection also works fine in Campus manager Administrattion window.

The devices turn up in Campus manager database in Topology Groups - All Devices, but the Status and Devicetype are unknown.

None of the other system topology groups are populated -

All the devices have been discovered, but they are all there as red boxes - Campus manager doesn't manage to work out which device is which, or the nature of the links between the devices.

Devices are found, but no properties thereof.

Has anyone seen this, and how did they get round it?

The Ciscoworks host PC is on a different subnet to most of the discovered devices, but discover is ok - I'm assuming I don't have a firewall problem preventing device discovery protocols.

SNMP 161, 162 and UDP port 42342 are permitted through the firewall to all subnets from the Ciscoworks PC.

Am I missing a port that is needed open perhaps? CDP port?

Thank you for your help.

Kind Regards

BF

Ha - fixed it!

It was credentials problem in SNMP settings on the Ciscoworks PC - Ciscoworks needs both RO and RW strings defined to be able to function properly.

No extra ports were needed opening on the firewall eithere.
