when connecting to vpn and are using device CALS do you need a cal for the connecting computer. example: I connect to work from my home pc will I need a cal for my home pc?

Yes, you need a CAL for each machine that connects to the server.
If you use Volume Licensing, then you may find out that you are covered with a user being able to connect with a work or home system using the same CAL.
