I am trying to figure out where to go next. I have to develop an app that can be used on the Mac or PC. I have not heard of any support for .net on Mac. Java is cross-platform independant. However I don't know any Java and have been in FoxPro and Visual Basic for longer. I would prefer .net but can't see the cross-platform or specifically support for Mac. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should use?

Try Real Basic ( or even something simple like Flash, depending on the type of application you're writing.

I've written some apps using ASP and ASP.NET and they run from an NT Server. However, some of the client machines (mine included) are Macs and they run great. Just need a web browser!

Thanks for the response I am interested in the web idea since it could be used on Mac or PC.

Yeah, it can make life much easier alright! I don't know if ASP scripts can run on a Mac directly though (maybe there's some third party server software, but I don't know). What I do is write everything on our Windows NT server, then I can access it by just using my browser, on Mac or PC.

Think of it like this: when you type in the address of a 'normal' web page, the server just sends it to you. When you request an ASP page, however, the server runs your application, then builds a web page on the fly which it then sends to you. It doesn't really care if the original request came from a Mac, PC, or any other platform.

I found it useful for building a front end for our customer database in work. I've also written basic accounts applications too, all of which work no matter what platform I'm using to access it.
