Dev, Test, and UAT Universes on the same server 1

Our BOXI environment has Dev, Test, and UAT on the same server.

We have developed Crystal reports on the Universe pointing to the Dev database server.

When we go to Test and UAT we will want the developers testers and UATers to be using each a different Universe each pointing to a different database. So we essentially need 3 Universes on the same server which are virtually the same except they use different connections.

There doesn't appear to be any way to point a report to a different Universe inside the report definition.

There doesn't appear to be a way to piont the report object on the CMC to a different Universe.

Can any suggest how we can achieve this?

Thanks

Bruce

Seriously?!?!??!

The only suggestion I have is to have you stop doing this. It's just not the right way. You have to separate your environments.

I can't speak for how Crystal works, but it doesn't matter. You are not following best practices. You're not even following decent practices.

I agree, unfortunately I'm not the one making these decisions. Unfortunately my client is a very small organistation and doesn't feel it can afford four seperate BOXI environments I guess.

Then your client will fail. You can't do universe work this way. It will cause so much more work that they will hate the tool.

That's already started to happen. Thanks, you've confirmed we need to change approach.

I don't mean to be rude about this. I've been working with this suite of products for over 12 years. There are many ways to make it work. But, there are a few that are destined for disaster. You are working on one of them.
