The no such device is kind of odd, seeing i was using the printer couple of days ago in turbolinux.

The lp0 file is physically there in the dev directory. I'v tried using parport0 as well.
Even dmesg says parport0 has found my printer.

Things don't just stop working in linux, do they?
Any solves would be helpful

thanks

Hi,

What does a 'ls -l /dev/parport0' show ? That should show the major / minor device numbers (should be 99 0 ). Also if you do a '/sbin/lsmod' does it show that 'lp' and 'parport_pc' are loaded ? If not, try a '/sbin/modprobe lp'.

Regards
