Is there a way to export a diskette drive to another server? Like doing an NFS on the CDROM. I have some software from a vendor on floppy but the server that needs it installed only has cdrom. The way the software install is written, I cannot just untar the files and ftp them over. The script keeps requesting the next floppy diskette. I haven't found a way around it in the script. Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

mount the floppy and export it (add it to /export on that machine)

then use mount on the other machine to get access to it Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.

But how do you mount /dev/fd0? It is not a filesystem or mountable. Please excuse me if I am missing something simple here. I haven't had to use a diskette in years. Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

I did a reverse mount. Instead of trying to get the floppy drive to the server, I brought the server to the floppy drive. I NFS mounted the filesystem to the server that had the drive and did the install from there. Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.
