I have a problem connecting to networks while on the road. When I'm in the office or at home I have no problem connecting to both of those networks. But at hotels I'm having a problem. The only thing I can find wrong is the Deterministic network enhancer miniport #4 is messed up.

When I go into Device Manager and select it and choose properties it says: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Troubleshooting suggests uninstalling it and reinstalling it. After uninstalling it, there is no option to reinstall. Just uninstalling it has not solved my problem in the past. Anyone else have this problem?

Oh, and it's a Toshiba Satelit 5205 with XP Pro. 2.4 GB processor, gig of ram and a 40 gig HD.

The installation is most likely part of whatever VPN package you have. Reinstall the VPN client.

By the way, test your home and office connections with this disabled. Oftten DNE can pose a big bottleneck for wired TCP/IP non-VPN connections.

Oh, and it is more than likely this is an unsigned device driver. If you have your machine set to not permit unsigned device drivers, you may have issues during reinstallation.

Start, Run, sysdm.cpl
Check under the Hardware tab, Driver Signing.
