Hi...

Is there a way to find out (command) how much of a tape is used? For example, I have an Ultrium1 100GB/200GB drive attached to my AS/400 and I was wondering how much of it is used in my daily backups and my system saves.

Thanks

remsauk,

Doesn't DSPTAP show you that information? Don't have access to the tape drive at the moment. I'll check back later.

I guess I'd have to answer yes, however, it looks like I'd have to do a lot of addition; I have about 150 sequence numbers on one of my tapes and some of these files have quite a few objects in them; I'd have to add the size (K) of each one. I was hoping for something easier.

Thanks

Try something like this:
PRTERRLOG TYPE(*VOLSTAT) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) +
OUTFILE(MISF/TAPELOG) VOLTYPE(7208) +
VOLSTATTYP(*SESSION)

I run a query against the outfile and that will tell me total # of bytes backed up. Run this after your save operation.
