Hello,

I've developed two types of Perl scripts to retrieve the daily amount of data backed up by the Netbackup server that I'm supporting.

Method 1: Based on utilization of "bpimagelist" command.

Method 2: Based on utilization of "bpdbjobs" command.

Problem is that the two scripts give me a slightly different result.

Which one of the commands should be more " trustworthy" as a source of such information?

Thank you forward.

Milohaze,

I have always relied on bpimagelist, however I have not compared the output of bpdbjobs vs. bpimagelist.

What arg(s) and field(s) are you using for bpdbjobs to get the backup size? Do you have multiplexing enabled?

Thanks,

John

Hello johngiggs,

Yes, the netbackup is configured for multiplexing.
From bpdbjobs I'm collecting all raws (bpdbjobs -all_columns) that contain backup information (field 2 equals 0) then checking if the jobs finished ok (field 4 equals 0 or 1) and then summing field15 (the amount of data).
