As you can see from my other posts, I am at a very basic level with DTS packages so please bear with me.

I need to be able to pass the location of the source text file to the DTS package at run time.

The file will almost always be in the default location, but the key word here is almost.

Is this even possible?

I would assume that if I save the package as a *.bas module, I would be able to do this, but doing so would defeat the purpose of developing a DTS package to replace current VB code which works well.

I've not actually done this myself but !
The DTSRUN command allows you to specify a value for a global variable using the /A parameter. You should be able to see this value in the DTS package at run time.
Check BOL for more info.

Oh yes, I do now remember reading that some time ago.
Just did not remember.
I will read up on DTSRUN again.
Thank you very much
