With Acrobat Pro 7, is there any way of determining the resolution of the images in a supplied PDF? I know I can check the fonts used, but haven't as yet discovered any way of checking the joboptions used when the PDF was made.

Go to Acrobat menu/preferences and select the Touchup section. Select an image editor in the window. I have photoshop selected.

Got to Tools menu/Advanced editing/touchup object.

Right click or Control click (mac) on image and select Edit image from pop up menu. Image will open in Photoshop. In photoshop go to Image menu/image size and check the resolution.

Thanks again jmgalvin (you seem to be answering a lot of my questions lately).

Woops - hit the Submit button before I had finished. I am aware that individual images can be checked by opening in Photoshop, but was wondering if there was some way of determining the settings/joboptions used in making the PDF e.g. press quality or smallest file size or whatever. Guess not, huh?

As far as I know - no.

If the image comes out at 300 or above (except monochrome which should come out about 1200) it's "probably" a press quality.

You can also run the pdf through Preflight from the Document menu and select List all images and then Analyze. You have to keep clicking on the little triangles, but you'll get the resolution there too.

You can also click on the PDFX button in Preflight window and then select Verify tab - with "ruan additional checks" checked and the subsequent boxes checked. This will give you more info but it's a PITA reading the report.
