Folks in part of my system hardening I have set system-auth file to disable an account after 5 password tries requiring a reset using faillog -u <userid> -r
My question is, wouldn't /etc/shadow flag this particular user's entry show !$ in the password string as locked. In essence how do I know a user's account is locked-out using this method?
