Hi,

We have multiple branches connecting to the main server via terminal services to use our design software. When exporting data from this program into an excel spreadsheet to collate the user needs to modify the registry. Is there any way I can set the Users as being able to do this without making them administrators? This is the solution that has been used so far. The users are all using XP machines and the Server is a Win2003 sp2 server. The design software is Mitek 20-20.
I think it may be to do with the registering of a username in Excel as if the user doesn't have the permissions then the username and initials box is displayed as if it is starting for the first time.

Use regedt32 to grant the users rights to the part of the registry that they need to write to. Do NOT give them rights to the entire registry, just the keys which they need access to. You will want to do this via a domain group so that you only have to do this once and not change the registry permissions each time that an employee joins or leaves the group.
