I am using vb scripts to collect live data from a production unit. The information is then formatted into variables and scripts for a specific simulation program. I then call the simulation program to run an optimization case and return the optimized plant parameters. The optimized parameters are then pushed back out to the production unit.

So my question is: How can I determine when an outside program is completed? Can I set up an outside variable and pass the variable address?

Hi,

Kill the output file before the final process runs.

Test for the existence of the output file while the final process runs. When it exists, the process is complete.

I think both answers very helpful. Stars for both of you. Thanks.
