determine when a server was shutdown/restarted

is there a way to determine when the server was restarted or shutdown? maybe some log files or something

but our logs r onli 512kb so it only has last 2 days worth

use the uptime.exe command that you can download from Microsoft's website. It will give you a lot of extra statistics like longest time up, reason for reboot (crash or user inititiated etc...)

but it basically jus reads the event log

so it only goes back as far as you have logs for it
