Determine if value of combo box has changed 2

In Access I have a combo box on a form
The user may click on the down arrow to change the selected record, but change his mind and leave the original value.
How can I determine this?

If this is a bound combo, you can check the OldValue property.

If not,

GotFocus: grab the value of the combo in a form-level variable.

Exit (or LostFocus) - inspect the existing value and compare it to the above variable.
