hello, how can you determine if another hdisk is bootable without going to SMS? tnx tnx

If you want to know if,for example,hdisk2 is supported to be a bootdisk,you may use
#bootinfo -B hdisk2
if the return value is 1 and only 1,it means support.

Hi Promotor

I know to methods to determine the boot disk:

method 1) login with root account and issue the following
command syntax:
#bootinfo -B <pv name in rootvg>
eg; bootinfo -B hdisk1 (scsi disk drive)

Method 2)with root account issue the command:
#lslv -m hd5
please check in PV1 and PV2 column....u can see the disks..
usually in any shop u can see the disks in PV1 and PV2 columns..and .PV3 (empty )
something like:

LP PP1 PV1 PP2 PV2 PP3 PV3
0001 0001 hdisk0 0001 hdisk2

How many ways to determine if you can boot from a device?

How about running diag?

-> Task Selection
-> Display or alter bootlist

Have fun thinking up more!
