Detecting the type of output?

I am trying to create a distributable copy of education course material. To protect our investment, we would prefer that people not pirate our education material by making copies or using the material to directly teach others.

Most of the pieces of this puzzle have been solved (one license per computer to prevent distribution, and making sure that copyrighted images can't be screen-captured)...But there is still one big loophole... Is there anyway to detect if screen output is being directed to a computer monitor or to a computer projector? I kinda doubt it.

There would be almost no way for you to determine this. The projectors nowadays are basically set up to ACT like a monitor. I don't think you have to worry much about piracy in this fashion, as it doesn't happen too regularly (people purchasing software, single license, and doing huge classes of learning sessions for everyone. Perhaps you can sell a separate license for if they are going to use a projector? Might not get ALL honest results, but there will be bound to be SOME out there that are honest and will purchase the right license.
