Anyone know where to locate lit on how to set up an into page to detect what the user's display settings eg: 800 x 600....
I will be making the site in two settings, one for each settings. I want to have an opening page, where they would press enter or what ever, however it is done and the script would determine which site to send them too depending on the display settings.

Nat,
You can have a look at these and adapt them:

Was something I was trying to help virt2001 with... But he gave up on me...
The redirect code is a bit messy (no provision was made for a resolution of 640*480 at that point) and opening fullscreen windows like these apparently causes problems with the AOL browser.

But the detect script is pretty clean... It detects what the user's browser is and the resolution setting, and displays them on the welcoming page.
I have since found a detection script for the AOL browser, that I could send you... If all of this is of any interest to you!

You always come through, looks like something I am going to have to adapt. Man AOL seems to be a pain, but if you can direct me to the 'patch' for this that will be great. I have a simple site and just do not like what it looks like in 800 x 600. Thanks again!

Nat,
I'll try to find that AOL detection script on my machine, later tonight, and post it... But I'm not saying this will solve all of your problems!
Detecting the use of the AOL browser is one thing, and this might only lead you into forcing you to make a third version of your site to work within the AOL browser.
I don't have that browser (I have their free test trial, but haven't installed it yet!), so I can't really tell you what your up against. Once again, Carl (virt2001) has, I think, already delt partly at least with the problem, so he might be in a better position to help you out on AOL.

the only thing i can say is from now on most of my flash sites will be designed at 780/550..gives some leway for the aol browser and works well at a higer res..of course there will be a small scroll for the 800/600 users but hey..i gave up on the whole making it perfectly the same for every browser..it just isn't going to happen..oh yeh..and set your movie to pixels always and center it in tables..old tried to drown me with that for a long time, but i wouldn't listen..i always tried to go 100% width and height..but no more..to many headaches..if you wana have a look nat i did the interface for this site , it looks good all the way around..the script detects available browser space and adjust accordingly..even works in aol for the most part..ie and nutscrape center it automatically..aol all you have to do is rescale the window a little bit and then it rescales and centers..but hey i'll take that..

good luck..
