installed a wireless router and XP said it found new hardware with the above name:

what the heck is it? i can't seem to find an specifics on this.

Westell router.

however, i deleted the device and rebooted and it did not resurface.

somehow i think it was something the Verizon installation placed during setup and once that was done it was not needed. but it is strange that it would pick it up as "hardware".

I just got my computer hooked up after a 3 month "vacation" and found the same message. I do have a Westell router, is that what it is? I do not have the disk that it asks me to insert and would like to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

If it keeps bring it up just go to device manager and disable it. That should stop any further prompts for install.

Disable UPnP on the router, or the client.
I honestly would view this as a feature, rather than a bad thing.
