Hi All,
I need to know whether an Ethernet port type is 10BaseT, 10-100BaseT, 100BaseT, 1000BaseT... 10GBase-SR, 10GBase-SW, or 10GBase-EW, etc. ?
Someone directs me to 'ethtool' but what I can tell over there is just the max speed it supports, and whether it's twisted pair or fibre, but not exactly the above type.
Could you help????

Thanks a lot!
Em

I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you be more specific?

I believe that he wants to know how to determine the exact media type used on a link. And he would like to be able to do so via a software solution.

Is there any software that will allow you to determine if the media used is 10BaseT, 100BaseT, 100BaseFX etc.? In other words how can you discover this info remotely?
