detail section displays data three times

Hi
I'm using CR 8
I have several detail sections (8) group by contract_ID, and for some of these contracts, some of the detail sections repeat themselves after the last section.

It's like

header
detail a
detail b
detail ...
detail h
detail a
detail b
etc..

while I want it to stop after h and to display the next contract details..
I've put the field "record number" on the detail band and it's a new record number.. but the data is completly similar!
I've seen similar posts on that question but couldn't find a proper solution..

When you have multiple tables in your report and ANY of them involve a many-to-one relationship, the details section will (and should) repeat.

For example, if you have a customer table and an order table, you might see the following:

Data:
Cust1 Order1
Cust1 Order2
Cust2 Order1
Cust3 Order1

Reporting on this would mean the detail section repeats for every customer and order combination, even if you only wanted to show the customer details.

Now, Customers and Orders might seem very obvious but I bet anything, your detail section is repeating because you have included a many-to-one link perhaps without realising it.

You are grouping by Contract ID, therefore the Group Header & Footer sections print once for each contract, but what other tables do you have linked?

If it's not obvious where the problem coming from, try placing the primary key field from ALL tables in the detail section and you will see which field changes in the 'duplicates'. Steve Phillips, Crystal Consultant

Well I've put everything that was in the detail sections in the footer sections and it seems to work fine now...
