I just loaded XP Pro SP2, all went well but i don't have the desktop tab in desplay properties. I know it's simple but I can't remember.

You may be able to fix this using the Local Security Policies.

%SystemRoot%\system32\secpol.msc /s

tried that but didnt find an option, even tried an MMC with group policy to disable "do not show desktop" still no good

Run gpedit.msc from command prompt. Check the GP setting under User configuration-Admin Templates-Windows Components-Windows Explorer-Turn on Classic Shell. If it is eneabled it will make the desktop tab dissappear. Change it back to 'Not Configured' and that should bring back your desktop tab.

Thanks (hears pop of head removing from anus) I knew it was somthing simple i was missing.

duh, it's in the group policies, not local.

I'll remember that for next time.
