I'm trying to troubleshoot some issues with the desktop messaging client on one users PC and hoped somebody may have some insight for me.

We have 2 unified messaging seats on our CallPilot 150 attached to a MICS with v7.1 software. The Desktop Messaging software I was given with the CP was v2.50.06.17 (is this the latest version?).

One of the two users has recently started experiencing a problem where Outlook 2000 hangs when it is being opened up. The CP splash screen appears & dissapears, and it seems to attach to his mailbox but then hangs where you can't click on anything in Outlook.

I left it for 15 minutes and it remain hung. If I kill Outlook via Task Manager and restart it a few times it starts working OK... The next day after a reboot the problem almost always comes back (80% of the time it seems).

I tried reinstalling Office, which didn't seem to help. I removed the built-in antivirus/spam from Symantec, no help. As soon as I uninstalled Desktop Messaging his computer began to behave normally again.

Any ideas on where to start with this one? Is there a newer version of the client that I should nag my provider for?

Thanks!

I don't know much about DM, but I think there are some services running to make Outlook talk to the CP. I can only suggest making sure all required services are running and maybe check that you have up-to-date Java running on the PC, although I don't think Java has anything to do with DM.
