Hi, folks. I'm running Arcserve for NetWare version 11.1 on my NetWare 6.5 server, with the Arcserve desktop manager from my office XP machine. It used to run flawlessly until recently, now I can't seem to login to the server from the desktop manager. When I click "Job Status" for example (or any of them, actually), I get a nice error window that says:

Server **** failed to authenticate the user (EC=2)

I checked each of the four suggestions it offers below this, but none of them work. Just to make sure I wasn't screwing up that fully distinguished name stuff, I tried both "administrator.blah.blah" and ".administrator.blah.blah" but get zilch.

I can't figure out what changed here, but I'm not able to manage my backups anymore. Has anyone been through this before? Thanks.

Hello.

Not to sure about Netware, but I managed to kill the login to one of my Arcserve servers.

On my 2K backup server, I did the following:
Command Prompt, explored to the dir containing the Arcserve program files.
Run CSTOP,
Explored into the DATA dir the DISCOVERY and renamed the server dir that you cant log onto.
Then CSTART followed by AUTHSETUP/P "new password"

After that run Brightstor re enter your logon details, with new password.

Hope this helps, failing that try googling RESET CAROOT PASSWORD NETWARE.

Home this helps

It's time to turn off IT and make everyone talk to each other.

I am having the same problem with ARCServe r11.1 SP2 on Netware 6 SP5 and the Manager on Windows XP Pro SP2.

I just installed ARCServe and I have 8 Netware licenses not in use on the Novell side. The Admin user has no login restrictions. I have been having intermittent backup failures in Backup Exec with - "Could not connect to <servername>.NetWare File System:. The login credentials may be incorrect. All selections for this device will be skipped." I was hoping ARCServe would work where Backup Exec didn't.

DSRepair runs clean.
Time is in Sync.
I can ping the server from the workstation and the workstation from the server by name.

Any advice?
