Desktop Icons

G'day,

The Icons for the shortcuts located on the desktop of my sons Win 98 Computer appear/look normal, all other Icons, such as Applications he has downloaded to the Desktop, the Icons just appear as a box, is there a tweak to fix this, or is there a bigger problem going on. Other than that the computer works great and he loves his Win 98.

what screen size (resolution) and color depth is it running at?

Is active desktop enabled?

First suggestions would be to disable active desktop (if enabled) - download any newer video card drivers (if available) -- and make sure you have the latest version of DirectX:

I followed your instructions above, the Icons are still not displaying as they should be, there are only little Boxes with the Name of the Item
