This is a very bizarre issue that arose on a newly installed Terminal Server. When the users click the Show Desktop button, all of their icons disappear. The do appear again when a windows is maximized or a software is launched but it is however very annoying for them and I wonder if someone has ever heard of this issue?

First of all, the Desktop folder were replaced with the Desktop folder the user had on the old Terminal Server. What I mean is, I created the ne profile on the new server, copied the Desktop folder from the old server and simply replaced it in the new profile.

I did some more testing and I manually added a new icon and a couple of shortcuts. When Show Desktop is pressed, all the old icons disappears/reappears along with the windows when the button is pressed, just like they were windows, but the new icons stay the same visible (though moves). I guess I could recreate ALL icons for ALL users, but that would take me a couple of days.

If anyone have an idea, I would gladly appreciate it.

I did some even more testing and found the problem.

This behavior is not present for the users with a single monitor. However, for those who does have 2 monitors are forced to use the /span flag, and it seems like the /span flag is the culprit. I did not have this issue with the old Terminal Server.

Now I need to figure out why this is happening though...

I have done yet another discovery. The reason why the icons disappear when the show desktop is pressed is because they get shifted about a half a monitor width. So if the icons are located on the left side of the left monitor, they get shifted to the left and are not visible anymore. When the icons are located anywhere else, then you can see how much they get shifted when the button is pressed, as well as how they return to their original location when pressed again.

So how do I go about to "lock" the icons in place so this does not happen?
