When I setup a folder "view options" such as
icons instead of details, auto arrange "un checked" and
everything views as I selected.
The later when I open up that same folder on my destop
the window will be a different size, it may have changed from icons to details and the auto arrange box will be checked....I don't know why it sometimes stays the same
and sometimes for no reason will just change on it's own.
Is there any way to "lock" my settings so Bill Gates can't
change them when I'm not looking :)

If you want the same view for every folder try this, open any Explorer window and go via Tools/ Folder Options/ View and apply your current view to all folders.

If you want different views for different folders Open any Windows Folder Click on Tools/ Folder Options/ View. Select from the dropdown options "remember each folder's view setting".

You can also try this fix to see if it will hold your settings.

Having a fully updated XP, including the latest Service Pack, may help.

Sometimes if it is just one or two settings that don't hold or save, it is something you may have to live with until the next time you format and re-install XP.

Thanks Linney
The TweakXP article explaining how to change the
registry solved the problems.
Do you have any idea how to make XP keep the window
size and positions from changing also?

AutoSizer and can be downloaded from
See the first two links from my first post. You may be fighting an XP bug concerning resizing windows which is only fixable via a clean install, particularly if it concerns the same one or two windows all the time.

Do you have the same problem in Safe Mode, or with another user login?
