Deskjet is local printer and when powered on, its front roller continuously turns 1/4 inch about every 5 seconds at which time the power light goes out and turns back on again and remains on until the roller turns 1/4 inch again.

I can't print anything, yet it doesn't give me a printer error. The printer actually thinks it's printing. When I send a print job I watch it popup in the queue and u get the little printer icon in the bottom right of your screen, which disappears after the job has left the queue, but nothing prints. The light on the printer even starts flashing when u send the job and it appears in the queue. Yet, once the job has left the queue indicating it has printed, the lights on the printer stop flashing too, except for when it blinks after the roller turns 1/4 inch every 5 seconds.

Im not familiar with that model but under general troublshooting
does it behave the same if the printer cable is disconnected?
Will the printer print a test page from its panel buttons?
( I dont know how that works on yours, mine is a 693 and it has another button above the power button, when I hold that button down and turn the power on, its supposed to print a test page.)

It will not even print a test page from the panel button. It does however, with the parallel cable disconnected, to act the same (i.e. front roller turns 1/4 every 5 sec with the bottom green panel light turning off and back on again each time this occurs.....thx for your reply.

Only other thing I can think of would be to look at the paper path and see if you can see anything stuck there. Hopefully someone with more technical knowledge will chime in. Good luck.

Normally with a paper jam, your top light (amber color) lights if there's a jam. However, I did check this first anyway and found no paper stuck.
