Designing forms gets fatal error - Dreamweaver exits

I have been trying to learn how to do forms with Dreamweaver. I want to set up a web page where someone can fill in boxes and radio buttons as registration for an upcoming function. When they click the sumbit button, the file should be e-mailed to me. -- When I try to change the properties of the form objects, I keep getting fatal error Dreamweaver will now exit. --- I have tried using Adobe Acrobat for forms, as well as Microsoft FrontPage. I am hesitant to use a pdf file as I know many beginning computer people out there don't know what a pdf file is or how to install Adobe Reader software. I would much prefer a pdf file as I learned how to make forms using the Adobe Designer. --- I cannot use cgi scripts or asp, etc. because they are not allowed on the server. I have to do something to just get the web page to send the form to me by e-mail. Can that be done in Dreamweaver? Thanks.

See faq215-3358 in the HTML forum. You just use standard html forms. You're trying to add unneeded complexity.

I just noticed something in Dreamweaver Help:

Note that you can’t collect form data without using a server-side script or application to process the data.

If these applications are not allowed on the server, does that mean I cannot use forms? Thanks.

You could use javascript to read the form variables and then use mailto to build an email in the clients defauly email package.
