Am new to Designer. Could do with some basic training. Can anyone recommend a book or online training?

The usual references :

First, read your Designers Help database, it is well done and gives much useful information for beginners.

Then, check out NotesDesign, they've done a great effort in trying to bring the Notes development concept to users.

Third, and most important, do not confuse Notes with any other RDBMS. Notes IS NOT RELATIONAL. It is a document-centric db storage concept (at least, until the upcoming R7 it is), and nothing relation exists in a Notes db.
So forget about Access, or SQL, or anything like them. You're learning Notes, and it's like nothing you have ever experienced up to now.

Good luck !

Pascal.
