Problem Description

After recreating the Oracle 8.1.5 database because of several database errors,
the DBA does a full database Import and Export. Now, when trying to log on to
Oracle Designer release 2.1.2, you encounter the following error:
CDI-21706 Invalid installation. Cannot retrieve server version. Cannot
continue.
Solution Description
--------------------
There are errors in the Repository.
In order to successfully complete the Oracle Designer release 6.0.3 repository
installation and upgrade, you must perform the following steps:
1. Open the Designer 6.0 Repository Admin Utility (RAU).
2. Select the Recreate icon and then check/execute the Recompile Objects
selection.
3. Select the Recreate icon and then check/execute the Indexes selection.
4. Select the Recreate icon and then check/execute the Triggers selection.
5. Select the View Objects icon, and check the Object Status
(Note: You must have zero Disabled, Invalid, or Missing objects).
6. Press the Upgrade icon to finish the upgrade process.
(Note: be sure to select the Rollback Segment with the largest storage
available).
Note: Make sure that the <repository_owner> has the required GRANTs as
specified on page 2-16 of the Oracle Designer Release 6.0 Installation Guide.
Once the Upgrade process is complete, you must perform two more tasks at the
client:
1. Select the Recreate icon and then perform the Full Reconcile selection.
2. Select the View Objects icon, and check Object Status.
(Note: You must have zero Disabled, Invalid, or Missing objects).
